The weather has been forcasting a severe storm for several days. Classes for Arizona State in Flagstaff have already been canceled for Monday and it's only Saturyday! They day has been in the 80s with blue sky. Not a breeze in sight. We drove into the nearest sizable town, Buckeye, for groceries. The roads are pretty straight with horses, alfalfa and cotton fields. Country houses don't have front lawns and are generally manufactured homes. We passed a chicken farm which emitted a very strong amonia odor. In another neighborhood, we passed a stock yard with quite an odor, too. Country smells! The scenery all around made up for the strong smells.
In the evening, the rv park was celebrating St Patrick's day with a corned beef and cabbage pot luck and karoke following dinner. Not overly fond of corned beef, we skipped the dinner and went for the music later. The DJ was dressed in green, including his hair. We understand that he is pretty popular with this park. The singers who live here were pretty good. We all sang along anyway so it was hard to goof up. We all danced to the "oldies" of the 50s and 60s- the general growing up time of most everyone there. Sonny even got on the floor for a few dances.
The wind came up in the evening and there weren't any stars to be see on our walk back to our site. By 10 PM, the rig was rocking in the wind gusts and the rain started pelting. It went on for several hours through the night. This morning, the clouds began to break up and we could see blue sky in the west. The wind wasn't going to quit and the temps were only in the 50s today-nearlyt 30* difference in the last 24 hours. The radio said this area hasn't had rain in 90s days-what a change from Seattle who often has rain every day for 90 days.
